Vault vignettes: start here

These short pages walk through your personal vault, one step at a time. They are for anyone new to Murmurent who wants to see, concretely, what happens when Claude Code records something for you.

Meet Sam

Sam is a new grad student in a breast-cancer lab. Sam is looking at a small table of samples and keeps noticing that ESR1 (the estrogen-receptor gene, usually just called "ER") reads higher in some tumour samples than others.

sample type ER status grade
s1 tumour pos 2
s2 tumour pos 3
s3 tumour neg 2
s4 normal neg 1

Sam's project is called brca_er, and Sam's handle is @sam. Every vignette in this series follows Sam working with this same table.

What's a personal vault?

Your personal vault is your private notebook that Claude can read and write. It lives in Obsidian on your computer and backs up to a private GitHub repo. See setting up your personal vault for how to create one.
